How KDP royalties work in 2026
Amazon pays paperbacks and ebooks differently. Paperback royalties are a percentage of the list price minus the printing cost. Ebook royalties are 35% or 70% of the list price, and the 70% option subtracts a small delivery fee.
Paperback royalties
On Amazon.com, paperbacks priced at $9.99 or more earn 60% of the list price minus printing; below $9.99 they earn 50%. On Amazon.co.uk the cutoff is £7.99. Expanded Distribution to other retailers pays 40% minus printing.
| Pages (black ink, regular trim) | Printing cost on Amazon.com |
|---|---|
| 100 | $2.30 |
| 200 | $3.40 |
| 300 | $4.60 |
| 400 | $5.80 |
Printing cost for black ink: a flat $2.30 up to 108 pages, then $1.00 plus $0.012 per page. Large trims (wider than 6.12″ or taller than 9″) and color ink cost more.
Kindle ebook royalties

- Amazon.co.uk: 70% from £1.77 to £12.99, with £0.10 per MB delivery.
